- Step 1:Open your desktop email application. You can choose any email program of your choice. You can select Mailspring, Outlook Express, Apple Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Step 2: At the top-left corner, click on the File option.
- Step 3: On the Account information page, click on the Add Account option.
- Step 4:In the Add account window, enter the complete information of your att.net email account. That is, you have to enter your name, complete email address, and the password. Check the Manual Setup or additional server types option and click on the Next button.
- Step 5: In the Choose service window, select the service as POP or IMAP and click on the Next button.
- Step 6:The POP and IMAP Account Settings window will be displayed. In the User Information section, type your user name and password. In the Server Information section, select the account type as IMAP from the drop-down.
- Step 7: In the Incoming mail server field, enter imap.mail.yahoo.com and in the outgoing mail server field, enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
- Step 8:In the Logon Information section, enter your full email address as the User name and enter your password in the Password field, then click on the More Settings option.
- Step 9:It will take you to the Internet E-mail Settings window. Go to the Outgoing Server tab and select the box next to My outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication. Then jump to the Advanced tab and set the incoming server (IMAP) as 993 and the outgoing server (SMTP) as 465. For both incoming and outgoing servers, set the encrypted connection as SSL and click on the OK button.
- Step 10:Then, it will take you back to the POP and IMAP Account Settings window. As you have already entered the required information, click on the Next button.
- Step 11:The Test Account Settings window will appear and Outlook starts to test the account information you have entered. Once the tests are completed successfully, click on the Close button.
