How To Backup Windows Live Mail?

Windows Live Mail (WLM) is a web-based email client such as Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo. Backing up your Windows Live Mail contents is necessary to save your important emails. By default, the Windows Live Mail accounts and messages are stored in the Windows Live Mail system folder. To know how to backup Windows Live mail, follow the below-mentioned steps.

Backing Up Windows Live Mail Using Export Function

  • Step 1:On your Windows computer, create an empty folder to export your Windows Live Mail messages. To do so, give a right-click on your desktop and select the Folder option.
  • Step 2:Once you have created a new folder on the desktop, name it as Windows Live Mail Backup.
  • Step 3:Next, open the Windows Live Mail program and click the File menu available at the screen's top-left corner.
  • Step 4:Choose the Export option from the pull-down menu and navigate to Messages.
  • Step 5:If the File menu is not available on your Windows Live Mail, press the Alt key to get your Windows Live Mail toolbar.
  • Step 6:In the pop-up window, select the Microsoft Windows Live Mail option and click Next.
  • Step 7:Now, you will be asked to select a folder to export your messages. Click the Browse button.
  • Step 8:Make sure that the HAS folder is empty before you back up your Windows Live Mail using the Export function.
  • Step 9:Choose the folder you have created previously (Windows Live Mail Backup) and click the OK button.
  • Step 10:If you have not created a backup folder previously, you can do it in this part.
  • Step 11:You can now see your export folder's entire path to which all the emails will go when you back up the messages.
  • Step 12:Select the All folders option and click the Next button.
  • Step 13:Wait until the email messages are exported to the selected folder.
  • Step 14:Once you backup Windows Live mail, a confirmation message will be displayed on the screen.
