Bigpond SMTP and Pop3 Settings

To add a Bigpond SMTP email account to Outlook, complete the following steps:

First, you should note down your Bigpond email address and password.

Step 1:Keep the latest version of your Microsoft Outlook open.
Step 2:Under the Info tab, select Account Settings.
Step 3:Choose New.
Step 4:Choose the Manual setup or additional server types option and click Next.
Step 5:Select POP3 settings and select Next.
Step 6:Under User information, enter your name and Bigpond email address.
Step 7:Under Log on information, enter your Bigpond email address and password.
Step 8:Deselect the Log on using Secure Password Authentication box.
Step 9:Next, you need to update your server information.
Step 10:Under Account type, enter POP3.
Step 11:Under Incoming mail server (POP3), type pop.telstra.com.
Step 12:The Incoming server port is 995. The Encrypted Connection is SSL.
Step 13:Under Outgoing mail server (SMTP), enter the relevant information that is, smtp.telstra.com
Step 14:For the Outgoing server (SMTP), type 465. The Encrypted Connection is SSL.
Step 15:Enter User defined under Mail to keep offline.
Step 16:Choose More Settings.
Step 17:Choose the tab that is labeled Outgoing Server.
Step 18:Also, select My outgoing server SMTP requires authentication.
Step 19:Check if the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is chosen.
Step 20:Choose Advanced and in Server Port Numbers, choose OK.
Step 21:Click Next. Now, your email settings will be checked. Click Close followed Finish.
Step 22:You have finished adding your Bigpond email address.
