How To Configure Lycos Email Settings?

Lycos is a webmail service that was rendered free earlier, but now it charges for the email subscription. The Lycos Mail Plus subscription enables you to have either an IMAP or POP email account. Read more to know about the Lycos email settings to configure it on your desktop and mobile email client applications.

On Outlook:

  • Step 1: If you are using the Outlook email app for the first time, the Startup wizard is what you will see when you launch it. In case you have added an email account to Outlook earlier, then launch Outlook, click the File menu, and select Account Settings to add your Lycos email account.
  • Step 2: Select Next and see that you do not upgrade the email.
  • Step 3: Again, click Next.
  • Step 4: Following that, the Account Configuration page will open.
  • Step 5: Click Yes and then click Next to continue.
  • Step 6: When the Account Settings page appears on the screen, click the E-mail tab.
  • Step 7: Now, click the New button to add a new email account.
  • Step 8: In the Add Account dialog box, click Next.
  • Step 9: In the next window, click the Manual setup or additional server types radio button and click Next.
  • Step 10: In the Choose Service window, click the POP3 or IMAP radio button and click the Next button.
  • Step 11: Now, in the POP or IMAP Account Settings window, enter the mail server settings for your Lycos email settings for an account. You have to enter your username, Lycos email address, and Lycos email password in the respective fields under the User Information and Logon Information sections.
  • Step 12: Go to the Server Information section and select the Account type from the given options. You can choose either IMAP or POP3 as the account type. Following that, enter the Incoming mail server address. The POP and IMAP incoming mail server addresses for Lycos mail are given below.

POP3 account:

  • Step 1: Server:
  • Step 2: Port: 995
  • Step 3: Encryption: SSL/TLS

For IMAP account:

  • Step 1: Server:
  • Step 2: Port: 993
  • Step 3: Encryption: SSL/TLS

Lycos Email Settings For Outgoing Mail Server

  • Step 1: SMTP Server:
  • Step 2: Port: 465
  • Step 3: Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Step 4: After entering the server settings, click the More Settings button.
  • Step 5: So to the Outgoing Server panel, and make the authentication settings for the outgoing and incoming servers.
  • Step 6: Next, go to the Advanced tab and enter the port numbers for the incoming and outgoing servers. Also, select the encryption types.
  • Step 7: Click OK to save the changes.
  • Step 8: Move to the Test Account Settings panel and verify the email settings.
  • Step 9: Click the Next button, select Finish to complete the setup for Lycos email settings, and close the window.
