  • Step 2:Try to restart your Mac. If your Mac didn’t start up properly, it may slow down or misbehave causing the crash of any application you open. So, restart your Mac and let it start up without any interruption. Go to the Apple menu and then click Restart.

  • Step 3:Make sure the Outlook application is up to date.
  • Step 4:Launch any Microsoft applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or any other application.
  • Step 5:Select Help --> Check for Updates.
  • Step 6:Now, AutoUpdate will check for any new update.
  • Step 7:Select Update if a new update is found.

In case you have downloaded the Outlook application from the Mac App Store, open the Mac App Store to update the application. This fix can be applied even if you see the “You can’t use this version of the application “Microsoft Outlook” with this macOS version” error message.   • Step 5:Disable the preview feature for encrypted email which is said to crash Outlook.
  • Step 6:Close Outlook.
  • Step 7:Open the Terminal by navigating through Spotlight.
  • Step 8:Now, just type in the following command and then press Enter.

defaults write com.microsoft.Outlook DisablePreviewForSMIME 1

  • Step 1:Next, type in the below command and hit Enter.

killall cfprefsd

  • Step 1:After executing the above codes, close the Terminal.
  • Step 2:Restart your Mac system.
  • Step 3:Launch Outlook and see if you can use it normally.
  • Step 4:Sometimes, add-ins like WebEx, Mendeley, EndNote, Grammarly, Boomerang, Zotero, etc., in Outlook may cause it to slow down or crash. This is because, add-ins in Outlook may be outdated and require an update to perform normally. So, update the add-ins to the latest.
  • Step 5:If the problem isn’t solved yet, check if it is due to a Profile issue. If your Profile is corrupted, it needs to be repaired to make Outlook work properly. To check this, make use of Outlook Profile Manager.app and create a new Outlook profile. Set the new profile as default and check if you can open Outlook without any issue. If you can open, it means your old profile is corrupted and you need to repair it.
  • Step 6:Launch the Applications folder.
  • Step 7:Right-click Microsoft Outlook.
  • Step 8:Select Show Package Contents.
  • Step 9:Navigate to Contents.
  • Step 10:Select Shared Support --> Outlook Profile Manager.
  • Step 11:Click the Create a new profile “+” icon.
  • Step 12:Give a name for your new profile.
  • Step 13:Now, choose your new profile and select the Tools/Gear icon.
  • Step 14:Click the Set as Default option.
  • Step 15:Close Outlook and re-launch it to see the changes.

In case it works, then your old profile has to be repaired.

  • Step 1:Change your profile to the old (Original) profile.
  • Step 2:Navigate to Finder and click Go --> Go to Folder and enter the following path.

~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Data

Click On The Go Button
  • Step 1:Click on the Go button.
  • Step 2:Look for Outlook.sqllite and drag it on to your desktop.
  • Step 3:Launch Outlook.
  • Step 4:When you see the message, “There is a problem and Outlook needs to rebuild,” follow the on-screen instructions to finish rebuilding.
  • Step 5:If you can’t send or receive messages, check your network connection, server settings, firewall or other security software settings blocking your mails, and see if the server is down.
