WINDOWS LIVE MAIL NOT WORKING

Windows Live Mail is a popular email application that allows users to set up their email accounts. Using Windows Live Mail, the user can easily manage emails, and send and receive messages. But sometimes, Windows Live Mail will stop working on your computer, and you will not be able to send or receive emails. By following the troubleshooting methods given in the upcoming sections, you can solve the “Windows Live Mail not working” issue.

CHECK THE FIREWALL SETTINGS

Step 1:First, you need to access the Start menu on your Windows computer and open the Control Panel window.
Step 2:Select the System and Security option from the list.
Step 3:Next, click on the Windows Firewall option.
Step 4:Here, select the Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall option.
Step 5:In the Allowed apps and features window, choose the Private and Public checkboxes for the following items:

Step 7:Windows Live Communications Platform (SSDP)
Step 8:Windows Live Communications Platform (UPnP)
Step 9:Windows Live Messenger

Step 10:Click the OK button to save the changes and restart your computer.
Step 11:Make sure to check whether Windows Live Mail is working on your device.

RUN WINDOWS LIVE MAIL IN COMPATIBILITY MODE

Step 1:First, search for the following location on your computer.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail (or) C:\Program FilesWindows Live Mail

Step 2:Navigate to the wlmail.exe file under the Processes tab and right-click on it.

Run Windows Live Mail In Compatibility Mode

Step 3:Choose the Properties option from the drop-down list.
Step 4:Select the Compatibility tab at the top of the Properties window.
Step 5:Make a tick mark in the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” checkbox and select the Windows 7 option from the drop-down list.
Step 6:Now, click the Apply button at the bottom-right corner of the window.
Step 7:Click the OK button.
Step 8:Next, restart your computer and check whether Windows Live Mail is properly working on your device.
Step 9:If the issue continues, perform the instructions given under the next method.

REPAIR WINDOWS ESSENTIALS

Step 1:Click the Start menu on your computer’s main screen. Type Control Panel into the search bar located at the bottom of your window.
Step 2:Now, select the Control Panel option from the search results.
Step 3:Below the Programs category, click the Uninstall a program option in the Control Panel window.

Step 4:Navigate to the Windows Essentials option from the list and right-click on it.
Step 5:Choose the Uninstall/Change option from the drop-down list.
Step 6:In the next window, select the Repair all Windows Essentials programs option from the list.
Step 7:Now, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Windows Essentials repairing process.
Step 8:Once completed, close all the applications and restart your computer.
Step 9:Now, check whether Windows Live Mail is working on your device.
Step 10:In case you find that the problem persists, just move on to the next method.

CLEAR WINDOWS LIVE MAIL CACHE

Step 1:Select the Start menu on your computer’s main screen and open the Run dialog box.
Step 2:Next, type %localappdata% in the respective text field and click the OK button.

Step 3:Now, the Local folder window will appear on the screen.
Step 4:Choose the Microsoft folder from the list.
Step 5:Next, navigate to the Windows Live folder from the list and double-click on it.
Step 6:Here, search for the cache folder and right-click on it.
Step 7:Click the Delete option from the drop-down list.
Step 8:Once you have deleted the cache folder, empty the Recycle Bin on your computer.
